2012 Convocation 
Innovative, groundbreaking, visionary, liberating, trailblazing—all descriptors of the Alliance in its 25 years of being in the world. The Alliance family will hold its annual gathering in Austin, Texas to celebrate our pioneering movement in Baptist life with anticipation of more creativity emerging from the synergy of our gathered spirits.
The program will kick off Friday with Communities meeting in the morning and clergy laughing over lunch. Featured speakers:
- Susan Sparks, pastor and author of Laugh Your Way to Grace
- Alan Sherouse, pastor of Metro Baptist Church, New York City
Saturday’s program will include:
- the annual meeting, invigorating workshops
- Jennifer Wright Knust of Boston University School of Theology and author of Unprotected Texts: The Bible's
Surprising Contradictions about Sex and Desire
Sunday will feature:
- Jaime Clark-Soles of Perkins School of Theology and author of Engaging the Word: The New Testament and the
Christian Believer as Bible study leader
- Miguel de la Torre of Iliff School of Theology as proclaimer.
Sprinkled throughout the weekend will be the distinct tastes and sounds of the food and music unique to Austin and the greater southwest.
