Palms? What's this palm talk right smack in the middle of Lent? Now, I'm not denying (no pun intended) that we're still in the midst of the '40' which are hopefully filled with introspection, insight and perhaps some love induced transformation.
But what if we take a moment and just imagine that cloak covered road lined with Jesus best cheerleaders. Fronds flying, the disciples exclaim, "Blessed is the One who comes in the name of God!", as Jesus begins his history changing descent into Jerusalem. I wonder what kind of ruckus Peter was stirring up when the Pharisees asked Jesus to quiet his friends. There's just no telling in moments like these where there's just so much to be excited about.
As you'll soon discover (again) in this issue of connections, there is much to be excited about when it comes to the mission and ministry of the Alliance of Baptists. You'll see a snapshot of the new Bridges of Hope Mission brochure that will soon be sent to Alliance-affiliated congregations. You'll learn about two important Alliance gatherings - the April Gathering in Nashville, Tenn., and the 2010 Convocation in Pacific Grove, Calif. And you'll hear about Alliance-affiliated, Washington Plaza Baptist Church in Reston, Va., and how their coffee hour became so much more.
As we continue our descent and ascent filled journeys, let us remember the excitement Christ brings and the joy and peace that comes from being a part of the Alliance of Baptists. Thank you, Jesus.
