Central Baptist Church - Pastoral Partner. Central Baptist Church (CBC) in Wayne, Pennsylvania is a welcoming and affirming congregation affiliated with both the Alliance of Baptists and the American Baptist Churches, USA.  Our relationship with the Alliance began with the participation of Martha Barr, a member of CBC, who served many years on the board of the Alliance.  CBC voted to join the Alliance in 2001.

We are seeking a pastoral partner to join our pastor, Laurie Sweigard, in ministry with a vibrant, mission driven, and progressive congregation of 200 on the Philadelphia Main Line.  Our web site provides a good picture of our congregational life and mission.  We are searching for an individual gifted in preaching and pastoral care, committed to the work of establishing justice and deepening the spiritual growth of the community.

Interested candidates should contact Norman Green, secretary of the Search Committee, at 101 Fairfax Court, Chesterbrook, PA  19087-5711.  Please send your resume or your American Baptist Personnel Services Profile.  (Posted 7/1/09)

Immanuel Baptist Church - Part-time Organist/Music Director. Immanuel Baptist Church in Portland, Maine, a welcoming and affirming congregation in the liberal Christian tradition, is nationally affiliated with the American Baptist Churches in the USA, the Alliance of Baptists, the Baptist Peace Fellowship, and the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, and†locally with American Baptist Churches of Maine and the Maine Council of Churches. Sunday morning worship services (and special services on Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday) are held in a beautiful neo-Gothic sanctuary that seats about 400. We have an active senior choir of 12-18 members that gives musical leadership for worship services and sings one or more anthems each Sunday. A children’s choir has been active in the past, though is currently low in membership. The church owns a three-octave set of handbells, and the handbell choir is currently inactive.

The primary responsibility of the organist/music director is to lead the church in worship through music as organist/pianist and choir director. Immanuel embraces music from a variety of styles, and while many in the congregation appreciate mainstream music from the classical church tradition, others look for a blended approach. Above all, the music must enhance worship. We would welcome interest from prospective candidates to develop a children’s choir, handbell choir, or other musical activities depending upon the candidate’s interests and qualifications. The salary quote for the position includes Wednesday evening rehearsals and Sunday morning rehearsals and services. Additional duties would be compensated accordingly.

Send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference to:
