CAIRN Retreat 2019

CAIRN is a network of Alliance-affiliated clergy who believe that together, in a Spirit-led community, 

we have everything we need to become and remain healthy, resilient, and prophetic leaders.

This is the second annual clergy retreat for the Alliance's Clergy Affiliate Information & Resource Network (CAIRN). Join us for a time of connection, relaxation, learning together, and renewal in Richmond, Virginia. 

The content will center around IFS (Internal Family Systems) as led by Russell Siler-Jones and is the same focus as the 2018 retreat. Learn more here: Internal Family Systems.

  • Arrival (check in available at 3:00 p.m.)

Monday

9:00-9:30       Contemplative Worship

9:45-11:00       Family Systems (IFS) theory as a lens for pastoral reflection (Russell Jones)

11:00-11:15      Break

11:15-12:30      Small group meetings to discuss “ministry cases”

12:30 - 1:30     Lunch

1:30-2:30         Small group meetings to discuss “ministry cases”

2:15-5:30         Time for personal reflection and journaling, hiking, massage sessions with Deborah Lynn, Individual mentoring discussions with Mahan Siler (sign ups required for Deborah and Mahan)

5:30                 Dinner

7:00                 Viewing of movie Inside Out, followed by discussion (facilitated by Beth Jackson-Jordan)

Tuesday

8:00-8:45       Breakfast

9:00-9:30       Contemplative Worship

9:45-11:00       Final (IFS) presentation and large group discussion (Russell Jones)

11:00-11:15      Break

11:15-12:30      Small group meetings to discuss “ministry cases”

12:30 - 1:30     Lunch

1:45 - 3:00       Enneagram workshop (Jon Singletary)

3:00 - 5:30       Personal reflection and journaling, hiking, body-centered contemplative practice sessions with Deborah Lynn, Individual mentoring discussions with Mahan Siler (sign ups required for Deborah and Mahan)

5:30 - ?            Dinner, followed by games and more fun! (Eric Cain) 

Wednesday

8:00-9:00        Breakfast

9:00-10:15       Final small group meeting to discuss cases and say goodbye

10:15-10:30     Break

10:30-11:30     Closing worship gathering and communion service 

Retreat concludes by 12 noon. Depart with renewed body, minds and spirits!

Russell Siler Jones is the keynote presenter for the retreat. He is a pastoral counselor in Asheville, North Carolina, and director of clinical training for CareNet of North Carolina.
Jon Singletary, Dean of Diana Garland School of Social Work at Baylor, will lead an Enneagram Workshop.
Mahan Siler will be on site for individual mentoring conversations.
Deborah Lynn will be on site for massage sessions.
