Beloved Mosaic is an Alliance of Baptists initiative that creates sacred space for LGBTQ+ people of color to cultivate authentic relationships, deepen spiritual formation, and grow as leaders while being fully embraced in the richness of their identities and callings.
Born from the Alliance's longstanding commitments to both LGBTQ+ inclusion and racial justice, Beloved Mosaic recognizes that people living at the intersections of multiple identities have not always been fully seen. The program intentionally brings these commitments into conversation, creating a community where participants can bring their whole selves—not just parts of their story.
Beloved Mosaic has been made possible through a grant from the Carpenter Foundation.
What Participants Experience
Beloved Mosaic gathers participants into a cohort that journeys together over several months through:
Regular online gatherings for conversation, reflection, and mutual support
Opportunities for spiritual formation and theological reflection
Leadership development rooted in participants' lived experiences
Authentic community with other LGBTQ+ people of color
Optional in-person gatherings at Alliance events
Through shared wisdom, faithful accompaniment, and honest conversation, participants are encouraged to flourish in their ministries, communities, and personal callings.
Who Can Participate?
Beloved Mosaic is designed for LGBTQ+ people of color, including both clergy and lay leaders. While many participants are connected to the Alliance of Baptists, Alliance affiliation is not required.
The program honors the diversity of participants' experiences, including those who may not be publicly out. Confidentiality and mutual care are foundational values of the cohort.
A Community of Belonging
Beloved Mosaic is grounded in the conviction that the church is strongest when people are able to bring the fullness of who they are into community. Rather than asking participants to choose between identities, the program celebrates the ways race, culture, gender, sexuality, faith, and vocation are woven together as gifts for the Church.
Interested in Future Cohorts?
Beloved Mosaic cohorts are offered periodically as funding and capacity allow. To learn about future opportunities, subscribe to the Alliance newsletter or contact Rev. Lily White for more information.
