Following the retirement of our senior pastor of the last eight years, we seek to discern how to expend our assets both to increase the sum of justice, mercy and love in our community and how to become increasingly known as a place where others can be part of this effort.
“… As people of God and followers of Jesus, we welcome everyone who God has made and all who seek to know God. We come as we are, and none of the world’s divisions matter here – not race, age, neurodivergence, sexual orientation nor gender identity, not the regrets of our past nor the anxieties of this moment nor our fears for the future….” First Baptist Church lives these words of welcome, setting up a neurodiversity cart to support the full participation of all worshippers, starting PRISM (an LGBTQ community center in Pottstown), offering non-violent resistance training to the community to support neighbors threatened by ICE and selling our “old first” building to free up resources for ministry. The congregation resides and worships – in a house church style – at Mission First, a separate inner-city mission with multiple outreach ministries.
